We understand that commissioning a jewellery design or repairs can be a leap of faith for the customer.   To allow the designer free rein can be unnerving. You should, take the time to familiarise yourself with the designer’s work and style to help with your selection process.

Case Study – Repair

This week I have repaired jewellery for two customers. The first one was a request to shorten a bracelet and the other a little more complicated. It was to create a new necklace from the broken remains.

Stage 1

The first stage is to carefully clean the gemstones.

Stage 2

The second stage is to consider the customer’s style and incorporate any particular requirements.

Stage 3

At the point of stage 3, we evaluate what original gemstones and findings can be used in the new design.

Stage 4

Formulate a design.

Stage 5

The final stage is to create the new piece of jewellery.

End Result

The customer was delighted with the end result, which provided her with two different necklaces.
